Property in Sardegna
Is there any where within walking distance to a nice beach in Sardegna that isn't too expensive? Any recommendations?
I hear from my cousins in Italy (Toscana) that Italy will be the next "Greece" in a year. Any validity to this? If so, I'd hope it brings down real estate prices!
Grazie per l'aiuto

west coast is much cheaper than the east.
Next GReece? Depends if Berlusconi wins the election. Most Italians know zilch about economics...

Nope not the next Greece - that'll be Spain. Gov debt here is the problem much less so personal debt.
Italians don't seem to mortgage themselves to the hilt, therefore, I suspect property prices will remain prettyy much stagnant (lthough Modicasa will know more).

Re: Property in Sardegna
Haha. Thanks for the help everyone. I speak Italian fairly well and I've got a "mouth piece". I'm sure I'll bull shit some old timer in to reducing the price. I'm set to visit Italy/Sardegna for a month in March, and will finally be able to quit my paramedic job in San Francisco... no more crack heads!!! Yayy!!
Allora, a little 2 bed/one bath will work for me. I've been working in construction on the side for my dad since I was a kid so I'd actually prefer a "gut job".
I may not be in walking distance to the beach but as long as it's not too far that's fine. I'll just throw the surf board on top of the macchina - California style.

Ha - I'd like to see you try to surf in Sardinia.
Can't stand Italian beaches myself although I do sometimes suffer them for the sake of my kids. Whenever I go back to Australia I immediately head to a real beach with proper surf.

Re: Property in Sardegna
I assumed Jonny was talking about wind surfing if he is looking at Sardinia else he would be heading for North Devon (Croyde) or North Cornwall (Fistral) or maybe to Caiscais (Guincho) where there are actually waves worth taking the board to

Re: Property in Sardegna
Not another Greece, but house prices will go down for sure. Just not sure Italians will sell more. The house is the only valuable possession for most of them. In Lombardy and Piedmont the market is stalled, both ways for buying and selling. Not a good sign.

Re: Property in Sardegna
He said California style so he means stand up Malibu, I’ve been surfing all over Italy since 1977, some of the best spots are in Sardinia, and my current "local" surf spot is Ostia.

Haha; good luck with the bargaining; the Sardinians are very stubborn and in most cases don't need to sell and there are usually massive complications because lands are owned by all the different members of the family and they rarely agree on what price they should sell at! What sort of price range are you looking at?
But I wish you all the luck in the world, it is a most beautiful place here and if you surf and love the sea it's a great place to be.
I hope you find your perfect peaceful spot!
