I'm curious to hear if there are any problems post Brexit with customs and duty payment demands etc for receiving small packages of personal items from the UK. So, not from Amazon or similar retail purchases, just things sent from family in the UK. Do such things get checked or opened?

Yes, I sent across a parcel in August. The import fees were minimal but BRT charged an 18euro admin fee before releasing the parcel!

So was it posted using Royal Mail and delivered by BRT, not Poste Italiane?

I used Parcel2go and it went through DPD here in the UK, and then transferred to BRT, Arrived to Sicily within 5 days though to give them their dues!

OK thanks. So maybe posting with Royal Mail (I assume it still exists) a parcel should/could arrive with Poste Ital...?

Yes, From experience it will go through the Poste, Only thing I dont like with them is the tracking is terrible, and takes far longer!
