Default Paper part of the health card

Does anyone know where the second copy of the paper health card goes?

I know that we 'should' have one copy and that we shouldn't lose it, but unfortunately for the last two years the lady in our ASL has insisted that she has both copies.

Of course she's now on the sick, the temp is refusing to help without the green part.

Afraid I cant help as we have never had 2 paper copies???? Why would the ASL keep a paper copy? We have a paper health card and the EHIC and our ASL insists on seeing both.

We used to have a paper card along with our plastic one every year (we renewed them annually with S1's).

We used to sign two copies, we had one the other was taken by the woman at the ASL and put somewhere - maybe on our file maybe the doctor got it. Last year and the year before that, we signed both copies and she kept them saying we only needed the plastic one. Her replacement says otherwise and just shrugs her shoulders, and says without it we can't do anything.

I just wondered if anyone knew where the 2nd copy went in case I may be able to get a copy of it. Pretty pointless really as it's expired!

Sorry if I sound dumb, but surely your problems are because your card has expired? Checking that you are still covered for healthcare is why our ASL always want to see both paper and plastic where we live. And getting a copy of our paper health card just takes a trip to the ASL

I've been here "forever" and I've never had 2 copies. I've only ever had one cardboard tessera sanitaria and then years later a plastic one as well. The Dr has never kept it and neither has the ASL. It's not green either, it's a coral/brown colour cardboard. I have got a little green bit in the same transparent plasticky folder where I keep the cardboard tesserae but, that's a just a slip tetnus jabs on it.

My cardboard one was replaced with a paper one when we moved a few years ago. I do have a green paper tessera, but it's my Codice fiscale.

My original codice fiscale is old green paper too and then one day the plastic version arrived in the post. I keep the plastic credit card style in my purse and the paper one in the "documents" box at home. I've had to write out, give or type my codice fiscale so many times now that I can recite it off by heart.

Many thanks to you both, especially for taking the time to post the picture Lorna, it's definitely coral/brown and not green isn't it. It has been so long since I've seen mine I'd forgotten.

I finally got to speak to someone helpful yesterday. It turns out that our local ASL office has sent our file to the regional office as there is now only one man that deals with stranieri. So, in a couple of weeks we have an appointment to see this man and hopefully all will be well.

Thanks again.

I see that you have been on here since Feb 2011. Once you get to the 5 yr mark, get your attestazione di soggiorno permanente from the comune. That, plus ID is all that you need to show the ASL for healthcare.

Well, it took all morning BUT we finally got our tessera sanitria renewed

Just in case it may help anyone else - We did get the paper part this time, ours is green with a cream border, but we also got a copy to take to the doctor for him to keep. I guess each region must have their own administration rules and cards - just to make life easy for everyone!

Thanks again 37100 and Lorna for all the advice.
