Nightmare with Van hire!!

I think this is probably a very tired subject, so apologies, but having spent HOURS on the internet today looking for a Van Hire company in the U.K that will allow Vans to be driven to Italy (and back) - have completely given up on the idea of one-way! Can anyone give me a name of a likely company? We need to move our belongings from Sussex to Milan - have given most worldly goods away so only looking to hire a transit or Luton and am not prepared to pay £3,000 for a 'man with a van'! We could also look at sharing costs with anyone needing to move stuff the other way???

No problem.
Apparently different depots have different rules, so if one says no try another. ;)

Re: Sharing costs on Empty Van - Milan to U.K.

Hoorah, we have now managed to locate a Transit van at a very reasonable price, and have calculated that to move all our stuff down from Sussex to Milan will cost only £800 including Van Hire, Channel Tunnel, Fuel and Tolls. It now just seems a shame to be sending an empty Van back to the U.K. So....if you or anyone you know about is looking to move stuff from Milan back to the UK (Southeast, possibly 1st week of Dec), for about £400 (half the van and ferry plus petrol and tolls for the Milan to UK leg), let me know, and maybe we can work out some mutually convenient arrangement.
