Moving to Lake Garda 2014 ...
HI All
Great forum - my wife and I are moving to the Lake Garda area in 2014 somehwere between Bardolino and Peschiera.
We'd like to meet up with british expats already out there for drinks and socialising and any help and advice we can get.
We lived in Spain for 10 years so we're not new to living abroad.
Also looking for a property in the area to rent long-term (1 to 2 years) we need 3 bedrooms, big garden, preferably next door to some open ground or woods where we can walk our 2 dogs. Must have broadband installed so that I can work.
Any help / contact / advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Maybe drop the criterion of 'must have broadband installed'?
Mobile-based internet with a dongle can work very well indeed, as long as you have a good phone signal in the house.
Very good deals available, try it out on PAYG first. If you have a good signal then you can easily set up wifi. Recently we had a houseful of ragazzi furiously Youtubing and facebooking and the system hardly blinked, this from a €9/month contract.
Speak to those nice people in your local mobile phone shop.

Hi
Thanks for the info.
Am happy to look at dongles but I am a REALLY HEAVY user - I send files that are in excess of 500MB almost daily and need bandwidth to do that.
It just makes sense if there is at least a phone line there where we can get BB installed - however, I lived in Spain for ten years so know that getting it installed can take ages. I've done a lot of reading on various forums re Italy and it appears that the wait time to get BB installed can anywhere from 2 weeks to 18 months in one case.
I can't be without Broadband as I and my business rely on it - so its just better if it comes with it.
But thanks for your input - appreciated.

Don't know how your language skills are, but if you are in Bardolino you really ought to brush up on your German..........

Hi,
I'm half German so I do speak German fluently along with fluent Spanish.
Many thanks

As for Adsl. 2wks, or 10 working days, is the norm if there is a line. Some places simply do not have adsl yet, hence the 18mnth wait - if you are lucky.
These days, Russian is very handy.

Hi
Budget is not an issue just want a place to ourselves for peace and quiet and villages are fine by us as we have lived in villages most of our lives both in UK and Spain.
We live in a village now.
If anyone has any leads on a property then that would be much appreciated
Regards
