Moving Back
After 5 years working overseas, I'm moving back to Italy next week. I'm currently surrounded by boxes and all the chaos that goes with a move, but the excitement of being back in Italy is growing daily. I can't wait to arrive!!

Re: Moving Back
Makes a nice change, although quite why you're so excited about coming back to Italy I can't imagine, unless:
1. you're a patriotic Italian. ...no, definitely not.
2. you've been living somewhere even worse. ...Wales, no offense intended to any Welsh posters.
3. you have family and good friends here... My wife is Italian, so many friends and family to catch up with
All the best anyway!

Re: Moving Back
Thanks Patty. If you don't mind me asking, why would I be barmy? There are a lot of worse places than Italy to live in.
We will be moving back into our apartment in Turin and I see you are near to Turin. Where are you?

Re: Moving Back
I know that Italy is a mess, but so is the UK, Spain, Greece and just about every european country. There are particular negatives to every place in the world, nowhere is perfect or we would all be there! I guess at the moment I am just thinking of enjoying myself, and I am not paying too much attention to the political and economical problems.
I arrived last night, so I'm still surrounded by boxes but now slowly unpacking.

PS I used a fantastic "man and a van" to transport our things from the UK to Italy. An absolute first class service. If anyone wants any info or contact details then PM me.

Re: Moving Back
True, but comparing is inevitable ...
If you try to avoid it yourself then people will always bring it up, both here and there ..
After 26 years I still get people asking me if I like the food....and which is better.

Re: Moving Back
My answer is usually that neither is "better" it's just different.
People always have choices, what to buy, make, eat and can source, one way or another what they prefer to eat-if they can be bothered. I can make any dish here that I could make in Britain and vice-versa.

Re: Moving Back
Oops-looking at my previous post re "What's better" ....that was in reference to the food.
Italy has better weather-nobody can deny that, the lifestyle is more relaxed and generally people are happier (that'll be the sunshine) at least that's my experience but maybe it's because I live in the country
PS I haven't missed it either.
