I have just had a Liquigas tank installed and am looking forward to my first gas bill when it has been fenced off in February..... Not! From reading some of the previous posts on this forum, I don't think I will be using it much for heating anyway!!

Has anyone got any recent knowledge of approximately how much it will cost me to fill this beastie and please... don't just say "a lot"!!! I need to be prepared for the shock!

just paid my last bill 229 e we only use it for cooking and hot water we use our fire for heating. i had the heating taken off the boiler and put on the fire as the cost waas silly. there are 3 adults and four ragazzi

I can't tell you how much it costs to fill it but this might be of use.

There is just my wife and I. We both work and use the heating for 1 hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. The rest of the time (when we are home) we use electric heaters.

We only use the radiators in the lounge, bathroom and one of the bedrooms, all the others are turned off.

The cooker used gas.

We paid 420 euros for our last gas bill October / November

Last year we were not so frugal and paid 980 euros for January and February.

My £200 per month for oil in the UK doesn't sound too bad in comparison! Wow! I do have a stufa in the kitchen so I am now looking at electric convection heaters from Amazon, the De'Longhi ones get good reviews so may get a couple for the few months in the year when I may be there in the winter. Any recommendations?

We have halogen heaters. they are inexpensive and quiet good. You need to check the rating of your electric meter, at the moment ours is rated at 3kw.

This means if we use more than 3kw at a time, the meter trips out. I then have to go outside and around the back of the house to switch the trip switch. Not much fun when it is minus 12 and you are ready for bed.

Two fires 1.8 kw each and the Kettle is enough to trip it!!!! :( We try to remember to switch of the fires when I want to have a cup of tea.

I understand it is possible to upgrade the meter, but the cost of either the standing charge or the electric goes up. Someone will add more info on this. Because I also need to know.

I remember the days (in England) when it was possible to run at the same time, the washer, dishwasher, kettle, TV & Video plus lights and not give the trip switch a second thought.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Good point.... Mine is also 3kw. I have tripped it a couple of times already (only had the place 3 months), but luckily my meter is inside! I too would be interested in the price for upgrading the meter...... Anyone?

The upgrade can be done remotely, but you need to be sure your wiring is ok.

Going from 3kw to 6kw input supply, standing charge is currently an extra €3.50 per month.
For say a 3kw consumption on a 3kw supply compared to a 3kw consumption on a 6kw supply, extra cost of the latter is around €90 per year. So in total just under €150 extra per year adding in IVA.
(Above 2640 kw consumption, 3kw & 6kw rates are the same). This is for Enel. It's possible that there could be extra one off costs for new meter, line etc if needed.

We paid €150 to upgrade the meter. We could only have 4.5kw.:( As Capo Boi said, the running costs are similar.
