leaving a rental property before contract is up
Hi there
Sorry if this has been asked before, but we have been living in our Italian place for 8 years now. We have a contract which was renewed in 2012 There is a big possibility that we will have to leave to go back to Uk, due to family illness this summer. Here is the 24 gold carat question, will we have a fee to pay ? In our contract it says 2 months notice for tenant or landlord, to want out. We did pay 2 months deposit + 1 months rent when we moved in. I suppose if you give notice to quit, 2 months before you just dont pay your rent for those 2 months. Well that is what happened when we had 1 year contract with our first landlord. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated. Tia Carol |

And even if you just want to move back, it would not be worth the landlord chasing you. |

Thank you 37100 bet my landlord comes up with lots of hidden extras he will want us to pay........Also do you know how much notice Telecom and Enel need ? I wonder if cancelling them is straightforward. I am sure we had to pay a deposit before Enel signed us up.

I'd guess that enel is similar. Yes, you pay a deposit. Its a silly amount. |

Re: leaving a rental property before contract is up
Yourcontract was renewed in 2012 on a 4x4 - so technically expires kn 2016? If the contract says two months notice, then 2 months it is, but it is unusually short for a 4x4 contraact which usually requires 4-6 months. I would suggest that your landlord take your original deposit as the last two months rent, and then he cant come badgering you for money
