Kebabs!

I'm eating a kebab and I'm only a little bit drunk!
Would prefer chicken like, but this'll do pig. Or should I say, lamb.

So to make this an acceptable post, what proper British thing do you fancy right now?

Big expatty loves to you all (especially you, Serrano )

   You must be drunk.
Since when has a kebab been British food? Agreed they're sold all over the UK.

Me - was going to make Yorkshire puds the other evening and decided that I couldn't be bothered and it was too bloody hot to put the oven on.
Would have been nice to just nip to the chippy and get fish and chips, mushy peas and a small curry sauce.

TO be fair, when I'm Britain and I'm drunk, I usually just get chips and garlic sauce, but as I've recently discovered the very friendly kebab lads round the corner from me, and as I was walking home thinking, "What I need is something to eat that just magically appears in my hand", I thought "Hey! Kebab!" And thus I willed it into being.

I really miss chips and gravy, though that's a very northern thing so I'm told...and a nice bit of Sarson's malt vinegar...mmmm...on your chips, in your soup, poaching your egg...you love it, you know you do...

I can handle chips and gravy but I prefer a bit of chippy curry sauce.

Got some real crumpets in the freezer. Might take a few out now and have them for brekkie. Could so with some Lurpak though.

If I didn't have to go to school tomorrow and try and get the idiot lads in middle school to at least pretend to listen - I'd already be drunk after hosting Chloe's birthday party and having at least 20 screaming dancing and football playing kids all over the place.

It was with great difficulty that I stopped drinking after half a litre and didn't open a bottle of prosecco later on. I opened a can of coke instead.

Right love - that's me done for the night.
This time 11 years ago Chloe was 5 minutes old and I'm as knackered now as I was then.

Chat soon.

I found Lurpak in the local supermarket!
Think they are a chain supermarket it's called Familia.
But since I don't like butter I buy margarine.

Re: Kebabs!

Right now, as befky asked, it's got to be crumpets - but only because I've just read about them. So I'll go and get some out of the freezer. But it's got to be spread (don't really like butter) and RASPBERRY jam. Nothing else will do.

Of course, the "proper British thing I fancy right now" most of all is befky herself. This pretend spat between us has got them all fooled, hasn't it, darling.

Oops.

Does this mean that super injunction you imposed on me is void?
:D

As the thread title is "kebabs" I thought I'd say I had a fantastic kebab here in Milan last night on the way back from celebrating. A place run by Turks (a lot of them are run by Arabs and range from good to indifferent, but better than Mac in any case!).

As for crumpets (or pikelets), yes that's a Brit thing I do miss. But with real butter seeping down into the holes and no jam! That's the way I like it. Jam is for scones, there you're talking!

Congratulations on your kebab Jonwel! My local kebabist (?!) is from Pakistan. They like cricket :)
Couldn't agree with you more about crumpets - they're savoury and should not have jam on them ever! Butter only (and lots of it so you can soak it up off the plate) or maybe philidelphia. Scones definitely need to be just out the oven, with butter and jam :D OMG I can't wait to get home!
