Italian citizenship, 4yrs vs 10yrs requirement
 

A British with permanent residency since 2017, so nearly 5 years ago may have the requirement to ask for Italian citizenship, as at the time Britain was in the EU, but anyone has faced this directly? I mean, before sending the form https://www.interno.gov.it/it/temi/c...ia-tua-domanda (which also requires payment) I would like to settle this once and for all, is the 4 year requirement still valid because of the pre-Brexit agreements, or is now 10 years because we're out of the EU? I've asked the Ministero dell'Interno (Prefetto) and they said this is something we should ask the British consulate in Italy, the British consulate said to ask the Italian ministerial department, so forgive me but please do not answer with the conditional or with your opinions, I'm just asking if anyone has faced this issue firsthand or know who I actually should ask this in order to have a definite/formal answer. There is a Italian citizenship facebook group. They must know the answer.

Really? Well thanks! Somehow I would've never thought of FB.

EDIT: That's a fail for me, the only "group" I found that is not a legal/counselling page or a closed group where you can't ask anything says "Do you understand that this group is ONLY for those seeking Italian citizenship via descent or marriage? If you are seeking Italian citizenship via any other means this group is NOT for you."

Try the fb group called ‘UK citizens in Italy applying for Italian citizenship - Beyond Brexit’. It is a closed group but it’s pretty simple to join and people are asking and answering questions like yours all the time.
