Income tax etc
Hi all,
I need some information please if any of you can assist that would be very much appreciated.
My situation is as follows:
I am currently still in the UK employed by an American company but they do have a UK business presence and a number of remote (home workers) employees and from a British perspective, for all intents and purposes, it would be considered a British company as far as salary payments, National Insurance, Pension payments and Income tax is concerned. Salary payments are made into a UK account.
So, my question is, when I am in Italy permanently with an Italian bank account receiving salary payments from a British company, how does the income tax work? Do I pay income tax in to the Italian system or in to the British system?
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with regards to this scenario?
Thanks

Your situation is far from unique from the previous post I've read and the answer always seems to be "if you are here in Italy permanently, you pay tax here", at a much higher rate !

And from my understanding, your employer would be expected to pay Italian NI-equivalent contributions too.

Are the income tax and NI equivalent payments deducted from my salary automatically as they are in the UK?
Thanks

Your tax and insurance is currently paid by an American company I guess to HMRC, it would either be down to them to sort it in Italy or you! More than 182 days in Italy and you will be expectd to complete a tax return there. Insurance is pain to INPS. Search on "tax in Italy" and you will find lots of information like this link. This is the eqivalent to HMRC in Italy AdE.

It is payment day for the UNICO PF today. They are grabbing my cash with a direct debit this year. Hope they dont empty the account.

My Italian partner got a call from our commercialista yesterday.
He owes the tax man €1.800 because the stupid woman in the company's office screwed up his paperwork when he changed jobs despite reassuring him several times that she knew exactly what she was doing.
He can pay the whole lot back this month or he can choose to pay it in 5 monthly instalments and whatever he decides, it will be taken directly from his salary. To say he's angry is an understatement.

Uffa - Know the feeling. I got a letter from the tax man saying that he had decided to ask me for anotther 4300 euros for my tax return from 3 years ago. No reason given, just because he can.

It's a bad time for us to be losing this money because now that Alex has passed middle school, we'll have two kids going to high school in September.
Just one bus pass costs €285 and we have 2 to get now not to mention all the new books etc.
