Re: Getting SKY Tv in Italy
Thanks for the info.
I'll probably just cancel my sub and watch the players with proxy IP's.
I had wanted it for the 6N's and other sports but there was some decent streams out there, certainly good enough to watch the pre-post and half time analysis. Watched the games with local TV and radio commentary.
Hard to justify the sub fee when I would only watch it periodically.
Thanks again for the help.

Re: Getting SKY Tv in Italy
Has anyone else completely lost BBC channels in Northern Italy (imperia) during the last week? We can get sky channels but BBC 1,2,3, etc give the signal 'No satellite signal being received'.
Any help gratefully received.

Here in Sicily where I am staying it seems most people install their own systems, some houses have several dishes.
TV here has a dual LNB on a 60cm dish which gets Hotbird and Astra 19E. Not much free in English but great if you are an Italian or German speaker as they each have hundreds of channels.

Re: Getting SKY Tv in Italy
Further to my post in February, we have now had a much larger dish put on but still have days when we have no BBC or ITV at all or have it some of the time. We are using an Italian TV man here in Liguria and he is baffled saying the problem is not this end but the English end. Has anyone got the exact frequency it should be on or any other ideas we can try, please.

hello, new to forum, moving to Novara in Piedmonte.
will be bringing sky box and card with me, do not need to pay a sub, free channels eg the news and a few other bits would be ok.
what do you get for free in italy via sky?
and any news on new dish size?
also on different subject which is best internet wifi package to subscribe to?

That i didn't know Lorna and seen as you ask i install satellite dishes and i am quite local to them.I didn't think it was good etiquette to advertise through the forum so i kept it private.

Re: Getting SKY Tv in Italy
I installed my Sky box on a 1 metre dish last week in the Pescia area of Tuscany. I cannot get BBC,ITV, or Channel 4 on this size of dish but have Channel 5 and 90% of the Sky channels. I did not want my house to look like Joddrel Bank and we have a man slowly making his way to the village with fibre optic, so will use proxy server to get the other channels if and when it arrives.

Can anyone tell me exactly the free channels you can receive without paying sky sub? We are still paying as am frightened to stop in case I lose channels I like.
Like everyone else here in Liguria we started losing reception for short periods some time ago and having checked every which way including increasing size of dish (against my better judgement) and the final conclusion is that the interference is definitely coming from UK not this end, apart from, of course, weather interference.
At the moment our reception is terrific on all channels.

Re: Getting SKY Tv in Italy
I don't know what is going on with UK TV reception - seems no logic to it.
Our flat is in the Garda area - we use a SAGEM box and a satellite dish (replaced with a larger one several months ago). We noticed that we were gradually losing UK-based channels (including all BBC) in the second half of 2014 and had given up on getting them back.
However our technician tweaked something - maybe moved the position of the dish or added something; we weren't there at the time - and we got all the UK channels back including BBC.
We went over to Italy in late January this year and were really pleased to have them most of the day and evening but just come back from a long weekend in Italy and they've all gone again - no sign of them any time of the day or night.
We have the old stalwarts like CNN, France TV for English language news plus quite a few other channels (food/cooking, old US TV shows, kids shows, music and travel) so it's not the end of the world - we also have a HD drive full of UK content recorded in the UK.
So I have no idea whether we will ever get the UK/BBC channels again - perhaps later in the year - or never again.
It's a total mystery what is going on....
