If this happens it will be good news for us. We would have to get the central heating boiler and radiators installed but would save quite a bit over the ten years, and would not have to spend ages chopping and carting wood around.

I suspect you will have to pay the service charge and that is usually more than 50% of the gas bill. A good discount as gas is quite expensive.
