Finding a doctor in Rome
 

Hello all

I'd like to find a doctor (GP) here in Rome who, though he/she might not speak English, at least understands the importance of speaking Italian steadily and clearly.

I've had a couple of GPs and my latest doesn't seem to be able to slow down or speak up, despite knowing that I'm struggling to follow.

Is there a GP anyone would recommend? Preferably in Rome centre/south. We have private health care, thanks to my wife's job.

Have a look on the British and US Embassy websites for Italy - they post a list of English speaking GP's that will also let you pay with insurance. If you can get the English Yellow Pages look under Physicians for another list of English speaking/understanding Docs. HTH:)

Thanks TestaRossa, good thinking. I was hoping someone might have a recommendation through experience, but the list on the embassy site is certainly useful.

Hi - we had a lovely doctor, he spoke impeccable english and was always available for doing home visits. His name is Dr Vatrella and his number is 338 886 5436. Hope that helps, Linda
