Re: Fibre optic broadband

I had 100mb fibre optic in Naples in 2002. Renzi is saying 50% of the population by 2020 - which means big cities, Seeing that milan, Rome, Naples, Torino, Bologna already have had fibre optic for years they might just about reach the target. ;O

In 2002? Naples was faster than London? I cannot believe that!

Anyway, worldwide average is 22Mbps. Italy is in the top 100!

I can well believe you. Its the sort of thing that happens in Italy.

Were we live in Turin they've had Fastweb for years too. Unfortunately, the last few metres are still the old telecom line held together with string.

Unfortunately fiber to cabinet in the street and then copper, does very little to improve quality and speed.

True, when I moved about 400m to the north there was only basic ISDN on offer at the time, so I did live in a charmed road. And it was 2003. I checked.
