Re: English and Irish week at Lidl
I went and bought Cheddar and Stilton, a bottle of the fakey Ribena pop that needs diluting in water. Bought some Shortbread to see what it's like but the kids have already eaten that so I still haven't managed to see if it's dunkable in a cup of tea. If the kids have already scoffed it then it can't have been bad. Was disappointed not to see any cans of Guinness this time. I usually stock up on them because the cans are proper pint sized ones and even though I can't stand the stuff, my partner enjoys a pint now and then and my Irish daddy who likes a few glasses of Italian red wine, still enjoys his Guinness when here. The fake Baileys isn't half bad either.

Here are some photos of the devastation from Il Giornale Di Vicenza if you can open the link.

[QUOTE=Lorna at Vicenza;12718251]Thanks. I'll try that when it's cool enough to turn the oven on again. Should have done it the other day when half of the village got washed away by a violent hailstorm, but it was pretty scary and the electricity was off anyway.
You have something in common with the Yorkshire Dales. The name Piovene sounds like it might be a rainy sort of place.

Even worse, at this time of year is the devastation it causes to the crops, some will have lost more than half their income on top of the home damage – awful.
