Default Elective Residency Visa/ ETIAS

Good day,
I've just joined the BE forum and on the scrounge for some information.

I have my home in Italy, however not given up my UK citizenship or residency. My work life is outside both UK and Europe (Middle East, Asia or Africa) where I spend 8-10 weeks working then return to Italy for 2 weeks vacation.

The information I've gleaned from the internet seems to be conflicting e.g. UK citizens will need to apply for a ETIAS and can stay up to 90 Days in a 6 Month period or a Schengen visa will be needed. Either way I guess no one really will know until Brexit happens. I've also read that Italy offers a Elective Residency Visa and was wondering if anyone has went through this process and how complicated it is? Again the internet offers different stories on how difficult/ easy this is to obtain.

Thanks.

You don't have to give up British citizenship at all. As far as I know elective visas are only for non Europeans. As things stand at the moment I don't think you have to worry about anything. You have a house in Italy and come here for holidays not longer than 90 days. That's it.
