COVID testing to enter Italy
Hello,
Has anyone entered Italy recently? which covid test did you do? I will be leaving for Italy on the 18th September and I am confused with which outbound covid test I need to take. Do I do need to do a PCR test or will Italy accept a rapid antigen test? Many thanks 😊 |
Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
I think this site here is kept relatively up to date. A lot depends on how you are getting there and mode of travel.

One of the links from Gieordieborn's link was this one from the Italian Foreign Office supported simple Q & A - in English which says that the quicker and cheaper antigen test will suffice.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
You can do the antigen but it must be done within 48 hours of entering Italy.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
If you're driving book a test in Calais 25euro each and gives you 2 whole days to get to Italy. When we got to Chiasso we weren't even stopped anyway.I just looked up pharmacies on Sante fr website. The 1st one I phoned spoke better English than me and was only 15mins from the tunnel.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
Hi all, planning another visit to my inlaws house again soon. New regs mention antigen within 24 hours before arrival now for fully jabbed UK visitors (or PCR 48hrs). Does anyone know if the postal Antigen tests which you can register online are sufficient at the moment? i prefer to be able to get my results and print a hard copy at home rather than download on phone at the airport so would prefer this method if is good enough. thanks in advance.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
Thanks for your reassuring reply. we went in NOV for the first time since Covid and did a Randox antigen at a test centre as we didnt want to mess things up. I will definitely look into Qured home test for our upcoming trip as the timings of the flight are a bit tricky to do 24 hrs before our arrival plus/with our other commitments.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
There is no longer a requirement to have a Covid test to enter Italy or on arrival if you are fully vaccinated.

To the poster; I used a self test last time I returned to Italy. |
Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
i read on various sites yesterday that 'D' list countries inc UK need to have PCR 48hrs out or Antigen 24hrs out. EU were listed as exempt though.

Re: COVID testing to enter Italy
Yes, sorry my mstake. - here are the rules prorogued till 15 March. . From UK you still need a test before flying - antigen or PCR, but no tests on arrival in Italy. If you come from an EU country then your green pass is enough. https://consedimburgo.esteri.it/cons...gno-unito.html
PCR test within 48 hours, or antigen within 24 hours. Plus DPLF plus vaccine docs. |
