The only solution is to have a house which never gets hot, like mine

Most Spanish houses are cool inside if the doors etc are kept shut during the day.

All the marble helps too! Much more stone and wood in Italy.

Can't be the only way, as we live on the top of a hill

We have high ceilings which are stone, stone floors throughout. Several large pine trees which provide great shade on the southern side of the house and it works. The downstairs is lovely and cool. We have never so much as put a fan on, the shutters are open all day.

Upstairs is about 28C, but downstairs is more like 22 to 24 and very pleasant.

No aircon at all and only one fan which goes in my sons bedroom because we haven't put a mozzie net on his window as it is the informal fire escape.

well - my part of italy has jumped from 17 degrees to about 27 or higher.

I should have remebered that it only takes one day for the seasons to go mad here.

Even our poor little hamsters have started to sleep outside their little house and choose a cool corner of the cage.

I wonder what the neigbours would say if the kids and I just set up a little camp in a cool corner of the garden ?
Call the carabinieri probably !

39 + here! Now I know why we have ac and you don't!! It's been 27 (cold for Florence) all the time we've been moaning about the weather!

its unbearable up here in Piemonte too. We went into town the other day and the thermometer read 35 - but it felt hotter today. Its now 27 inside the house. I just went and splashed cold water all over me and stood in front of the fan - nice but only lasts for a few minutes. oh my god - i've just remembered ........I'll probably have to stay home from work tomorrow cos I'll get a .....Colpo d'aria

thanks for reminding me - I found one in the draw that I got at carrefour last year in their one euro basket - I always knew it would come in handy ( I have a sad addiction to the one euro basket and buy all sorts of junk 'just in case'.)
