Child discounts on flights to UK?

Hi all,

We want to take our little girl to the UK in August, and she will turn two when she's over there, meaning that she's no longer entitled to free/discounted travel sitting on my lap. Anyone know of any airlines that do good discounts for children over two? We would like to fly from Bologna to Manchester (with a stopover of course).

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that with BA, if your infant becomes a child, i.e. turns 2 during the journey, there is no extra charge. They just need a seat available for the return journey but this needs to be done via their customer services and cannot be done online.

However, just book your flights from Venice to Gatwick instead of Bologna to Madchester. It's rubbish up north anyway.

Thanks Duffer, but I can't find that info about BA anywhere. I can only find "if your child turns two you should purchase a ticket."

And if I flew to Gatwick... then I'd be in Gatwick.

I know that it's a bit further K, but mum flew Manchester to Verona on a Monarch flight and was very pleased. They flight times were also convenient and they didn't weigh her luggage.:D

Thanks Duffer and 37100. The B.A. flights were looking really expensive even without paying for a child so I went with the Monarch option from Verona- thanks! It does mean travelling further but then it's a direct flight rather than going through the whole rigmarole twice :)
