I recently took out a subscription to ExpressVPN which gave me access to BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 (though not the UK Lottery). I only did it out of curiosity for a 1 month fee of about GBP 10 or USD 13 which I subsequently cancelled. It worked fine on an Android tablet and via a laptop running Windows 10.
The reason I didn't keep it is because I have been able to access the BBC channels, ITV (1 only) and Channel 4 via satellite.

We used Purevpn simply because they had such a good offer for a years access. Times I used it they were fine, but there is a never ending battle to stop VPN access and they constantly are having to change their servers. It bothered me little as I had a list of 4-6 of their servers and if I could not get access on one I’d try another. Only once did I have to contact Purevpn (online) and they were really quick to offer access to a server not listed by them, which worked. I stopped using them when roaming came in as we were often in the UK and had a GiffGaff sim. We found using the latter as a hotspot for the limited access we wanted give us access without the VPN. I’ve not looked at this for a few years now, but would have thought there should be other options out there now – smart DNS?

Hi
I used to use Surfshark. Found this very reliable, however, cannot access BBC as you can go onto their site but the BBC now have high-tech stuff (? sorry I'm not technical) that notes you are using a VPN and won't enable you to stream (technically you have yo go to the UK to stream and then rewatch in Italy - pointless really). But good if any of you still have a UK telephone so you won't get cut off for over suing your roaming / 3G/ 4G/ 5G allowance - again they can tell you are using a VPN but can do nothing about it. For the UK lottery, this can be accessed if you use a UK mobile (? I know some people can't change) and you just accept that you are still in the UK - this is what my partner has done for the last 4 years - but unable to check with them now :-( .

Mmmm. Just imagine winning the jackpot and then they discover that you're not resident and disqualify you

With Brexit you can no longer get UK streaming services in Europe. You will have to download in the UK and watch when you are abroad. VPN's won't help according to the BBC.

I really don't see the problem. Just google around and you'll see sites that can geo-unblock BBC streams for you. I even use one here in UK because I don't have and don't want a BBC Iplayer account.

I use NordVPN for iPlayer, it's still working. It gives you the choice of most countries which is handy for NetFlix and Amazon.

The BBC is non stop Covid. After a few hours of that I would become suicidal.

Yes it is Brexit rules. the UK is no longer within the EU area for media/tv etc. Here's the link:
