Brexit ready or not?

Brexit ready or not?
I read that the Minister of the interior in France has advised all Brits resident in France to get a Carte de Sejour. Does anyone know if Salvini has offered any advice to Brits living in Italy?

Nothing as yet, but then nothing is decided.

Some advice about the hard Brexit although May seems to have stopped saying that no deal is better than a bad deal. Salvini has already passed a new law for minimum Italian language required for citizenship and long term residence permits.

Re: Brexit ready or not?
Even under May's deal you will need to have your residence by Brexit or the end of the transition period (still to be decided) , as otherwise you will need a Permesso di Soggiorno. The language and local culture requirement is for citizenship only. Long term residence is a qualification that comes from having residence, not necessarily a knowledge of the language.

I am going to try again to get the EU Soggiorno Permanente as advised in their checklist. It might prove to be 16 Euros well spent if it remains valid after Brexit.

Yes the Comune said that I needed proof of 5 years of continuous employment in Italy. I will go and ask next week at the CGIL or the Prefetura.

You dont need 5 years continuous employment. You need to show that you're not a burden on the state.

Thanks Modicasa. The problem is that there is only one woman in the Comune office and she has been told the rules by the woman in the next village. Also she has read that the UK is no longer part of the EU.

You couldn't make it up, could you. I was told some time ago by our local jackbooted traffic cop; complete with pistol and dark glasses; that if number 1 son didn't present himself at the anagrafe immediately as requested he would strip him of his citizenship. No.1 son has lived in UK and Ireland for the last 35 years!.

Given the fact that the Tories have lost every vote in the commons over the budget, they have had to axccpt all Labour and SNP amendments because the DUP refuse to vote with them, then the future of the Brexit bill lpooks very shaky

May is hoping that by letting MPs stare into the abyss of a ‘No Deal’ scenario for long enough they’ll be scared into voting it through. That’s quite the high risk strategy. Even if she does pull it off Spain sabre rattling over Gibraltar is a taste of what’s to come trying to get the EU27 to agree to it themselves. You only need a Walloon to say ‘Non’ and it’s ‘No Deal’ regardless.

That Walloon doesn't need to bother saying anything. He can sit back and watch the caos unfold across the Channel.
