Every house I look at in Italy seems to have the dreaded Bidet. It's making me laugh after reading the thread on them, they come in a fantastic array of colours too. Mind you they could be good for bathing my Chihuahua Lily he he

Why "dreaded"? Most French dwellings have one. If you don't use it for the intended purpose, it's useful for washing your feet and soaking washing....

If- and this is doubtful-I ever returned to the UK I could never have a bathroom without a bidet! Now (to me), it seems very odd that the Brits have never really taken to having one installed. Perhaps personal hygiene is more important in some countries.

Why does the English Milord dread the bidet ? Is he horrified at the idea of washing his privates ?

The English and Americans scorn bidets for some deep seated psychological reason - probably due to school punishments. I, now Ive been here for long enough, cannot see the (British) point of having separate cold and hot taps. Discuss.

All my taps are mixers so I'm with you on this one although hot water was considered unclean unlike cold water which is drinkable? Possible explanation? He he

I would have loved a bidet last week, my hoop was red raw with piles and even the most delicate dabbing with the softest toilet paper was like wiping me bum with a brick. Better now though!
