Banks...any recommendations?
Hi,
Any one got any recommendations for a good bank to open an account with when I move to Italy? I've been told Webank.it are decent by a couple of people but wondered what others thought.
Thanks in advance

It depends on your internet skills - online banking is rarely in English. It also depends where you are. In the south the new banks, webank, orange etc are not available and the costs of using other atm machines are prohibitive. ASmall local banks in the economic times are risky places to put your money. The Monte Dei Paschi is the most expensive and most risky big bank to have your money. I use Unicredit for my clients which also can do non resident accounts easily without being too expensive. Otherwise, your choice - if you dont want to give too much money to the bankers choose a Cooperative bank.

Modicasa is spot on imho I recommend you be guided by him in this.
for info, I use Banco di Napoli and do everything by internet but you need a good level of Italian to use the BdN web banking services.

Banco di Napoli is owned and run by Banca Intesa and the web site is in english. If you only want basic retail banking then look at the online banks , if you will need more complicated services then either Intesa or Unicredit are probably best . Where are you going to live ?
