Good luck with the job offer. Never lived in Modena but you may be surprised at how expensive it is over here. Is it a full time job with a company or part time teaching with a language school, ie berliz?

Make sure you have a back up plan in case the job isn't as good as you thought.

Englishman in Italy - where do you live? Are you glad you made the move to Italy? I'm hoping to hear about ppl's living experience in Modena (and the area). How expenisve is it? What is the monthly pay I should expect? Is rent expensive? Any other info would be so helpful.

Thanks!

North of Italy Nr Alessandria.
Love it here I have been here 3 years.
I can't tell you about the pay rates as I did odd jobs and my wife supported me until I went self employed.
I think it is expensive, especially gas, clothes.
Rent depends on where you live. I live in a little village 10 miles from the main city (hicksville, 2 cars 20 old ladies and one donkey) so our rent is very cheap but the next village along the rent is double.

Monthly pay depends on your Job... What job are you chasing?

cris you need to tell us the job you're looking at. Without that its a bit of a job to predict your earnings etc.

I live about 40 mins from Modena, there's not much work in the area here and some parts of the town are fairly horrible... Sassuolo(just outside Modena) is one of the worst places I've ever spent time in...

First off, if you rent in the city it will be expensive, heating and electricity costs here are pretty high. How long are you planning to stay? Lots of agencies won't do short term rentals, I think the minimum if something like 4 years.

Do you speak the language? If you don't you're going to struggle, even simple things like sorting residency, health card, tax etc are a challenge and if you don't speak Italian..... I can't imagine how difficult it will be. Remember this is a country where bureaucracy is an art form.

Sorry to sound negative, but Italy isn't a simple place to get on in.

Hi again,

I have answered your pm.

I agree Sassuolo isn't that great but the hills above it are very pretty, we had our wedding reception there. Anyway nobody's forcing you to move to Sassuolo!

Where do you live, Nuvoletta?
