Address needed to obtain a residence permit
We are actively looking to buy a property in Basilicata and using our motorhome whilst doing this. Current coronavirus restrictions are not helping and we have base ourselfs at a motorhome parking site near Matera. Does anyone know if a campsite address would be acceptable as our address for the issue of a residence licence. Once we find a suitable property then that would become our primary residence.
Thanks in advance for any advice, David.

To the best of my knowledge, you need a permanent address, demonstrated by a rental contract or presumably a document that shows you own a property (Modicasa is the person to ask on here for the fine details in these matters). I am fairly certain you would not be able to claim residence in a motor home.

If you are going to get EU residence and exchange your licence by 31 December you need to work quickly. To make things worse all these offices operate by appointment only in the Covid crisis.

You will need a rentalor comodato d'uso contract registered at the Tax Office , but a campsite I very much doubt will work, especially as most campsites have a licence for seasonal work, for example can remain open for 30 weeks a year, and therefore couldnt be a permanent address.

100% not. The only legal workaround would be to register as "senza fissa dimora" (no fixed abode). However, most comune have not implemented this although they are required by law. I know this, because I investigated this avenue not too long ago and I gave up. As usual in Italy, try to network with people who have friends at the local comune.

I read recently about a couole who had been able to register for residebcy although living on a boat a a marina . The owmers of the marina , open all year and with the appropriate services etc , were wiling for their contract to be used and the council accepted it . The other possibilty is to rent a flat or to arrange to stay with friends willing to certify you are living with them .
The marina contract idea sounds good but could that be translated into our situation of using and living in a motorhome until a suitable property is found?
