What programs needed for graphic designer?
Hello,
I want to know what programs do I need to learn in order to be a graphic designer? I will only do print. No Webdesign. Any suggestion would be really appreciated.
Thanks advance for help.

The main one for print design would be Adobe Indesign (lesser extent Quark).
Photoshop and Illustrator would also help.

GIMP (no really) would be an alternative to Photoshop if you cannot afford it. It's known for being almost, if not as, powerful as it's expensive Adobe equivalent

If you're keen to work for an agency, you'll need photoshop no matter what - it's a required skill. It'd be like turning up to a car mechanic job interview and saying "I never learned to fix cars - too expensive - so I learned to fix scooters instead".
If you're working for yourself, all the programs that other people have listed here will do what you need!

Gimp is great, but if you're working on print it's not gonna cut it. It's fine for web design though. The biggest drawback is simply that everyone else uses Photoshop.

There is no single best graphic design software program. There are, however, specific programs that are better suited for certain tasks than others. The previously mentioned programs are considered industry standard.

I'd stick with photoshop. If, at this point, you have no preference - go for the industry standard package. I, personally, prefer fireworks - but only because it's rather ignorantly what I've stuck to. The print quality of fireworks is not up to parr, you'll find this mentioned on google countless amounts of times.
