IT Jobs Trend in Australia 2010
Ok, here's some stats for IT jobs in OZ, just from checking the total number of "IT&T" jobs by major city advertised in the last 30 days on Seek.
I'll try to update this weekly and maybe even create some nice graphs at some point. This is a very rough guide only, some jobs get advertised multiple times and others don't get onto Seek at all, the actual numbers aren't important but any significant upward or downward trend probably is: Sydney 07th Jan 2010 - 4188 15th Jan 2010 - 4515 22nd Jan 2010 - 5314 Melbourne 07th Jan 2010 - 2245 15th Jan 2010 - 2346 22nd Jan 2010 - 2613 Brisbane 07th Jan 2010 - 935 15th Jan 2010 - 1070 22nd Jan 2010 - 1114 Perth 07th Jan 2010 - 424 15th Jan 2010 - 453 22nd Jan 2010 - 488 Adelaide 07th Jan 2010 - 212 15th Jan 2010 - 230 22nd Jan 2010 - 232 Darwin 07th Jan 2010 - 34 15th Jan 2010 - 35 22nd Jan 2010 - 36 Hobart 07th Jan 2010 - 13 15th Jan 2010 - 21 22nd Jan 2010 - 23 |
Re: IT Jobs Trend in Australia 2010
So why is Perth so far behind the other big cities regards to numbers?
Is this an opportunity to exploit lack of IT investment or is there a lock less companies in Perth? |
Re: IT Jobs Trend in Australia 2010
Thanks Robert - that's interesting. Looks like things are picking up. So Hobart is probably not the place to be heading if you're hoping for a job in IT.
I'm off to Brizzie in September. Hoping for a C#.NET job but am a bit worried about how long it will take to get one. I've heard some stories of people still looking after 6 months  because they don't have Ozzi experience. Well ... :fingerscrossed: |
Re: IT Jobs Trend in Australia 2010
OK, its Friday again, time for the latest figures, I've included Canberra too now but only have two weeks of figures for them. :)
Cities are ordered from the best for IT jobs to the worst (If I could edit my first post I would but I guess I'll have to keep appending to the thread each week. First impressions are that the future's looking brighter for IT jobs in the big cities  Sydney 07th Jan 2010 - 4188 15th Jan 2010 - 4515 22nd Jan 2010 - 5314 29th Jan 2010 - 6159 Melbourne 07th Jan 2010 - 2245 15th Jan 2010 - 2346 22nd Jan 2010 - 2613 29th Jan 2010 - 2901 Brisbane 07th Jan 2010 - 935 15th Jan 2010 - 1070 22nd Jan 2010 - 1114 29th Jan 2010 - 1315 Canberra 22nd Jan 2010 - 835 29th Jan 2010 - 814 Perth 07th Jan 2010 - 424 15th Jan 2010 - 453 22nd Jan 2010 - 488 29th Jan 2010 - 554 Adelaide 07th Jan 2010 - 212 15th Jan 2010 - 230 22nd Jan 2010 - 232 29th Jan 2010 - 243 Darwin 07th Jan 2010 - 34 15th Jan 2010 - 35 22nd Jan 2010 - 36 29th Jan 2010 - 32 Hobart 07th Jan 2010 - 13 15th Jan 2010 - 21 22nd Jan 2010 - 23 29th Jan 2010 - 23 |

Re: IT Jobs Trend in Australia 2010
Interesting to see Sydney trending so steadily - although maybe thats due to the recruitment lull over the Xmas period.
