It engineer
 
Can anyone tell me if if IT engineers need to get there qualifications assessed before being able to work in australia?

We didn't get anything done with ours apart from the ACS assessment to get the visa.

If you are looking at working there permanently, ie, migrating, you will definately need to be assesed by the ACS, Australian Computer Society, however if you are looking at a one year undergrad - postgrad working holiday or other similar venture, you will be fine just submitting your CV to the agencies.
