IT Contractor Market

Anyone know what the contractor market is like in OZ?

Are ozzies happy to recruit brits for roles, I certainly know there's no problem in the UK the other way round?

Thinking of going to Perth/Sydney on a PR visa

What type of contractor role are you looking for?
In my experience there's no problem being a brit when it comes to IT work in Sydney. In some circumstances it's a good thing. At one outsourcing house I went to, they preferred brits as they generally worked harder and were more professional (but I think that's a bit harsh on the locals).
Brits are also favoured in roles where customer communication is a central part. Simply put (without any racist intentions) being able to converse in clear English is a big plus. However I don't know how the scouser I work with got past that one!

I will be looking for Project Manager roles.

Hopefully 3 month contracts as that will fit in with my plans.

I need to start looking into how it works with regards to income, can I keep my UK LTD company, should I use one of the australian management companies

I could have advised on dev roles but I'm not best placed to comment on project management. I'm not sure about working for through your UK company over here, that opens up a whole new set of questions. I have used a couple of management companies here. But again the rules and regs have probaly changed so much that any advice I have would be out of date. Entity Solutions were one company I used, based in Sydney and Melb.

Hope someone else can be more helpful.
