Any jobs for us techies in the islands? (Costa Rica, Jamaica, Virgin Is.., Caymen I)
 

I want to write software on a tropical island.. like a place mentioned in the subject line. Hawaii may be my only hope, but I want to know what all my options are.

I wanted to edit the above post on what I found, but the edit option goes away after a couple hours!

Anyway, it's a bleak outlook. This Job in the Sun website shows only 8 IT jobs, and this site searched around 25 or so islands, including Hawaii.

I once considered moving to Grand Cayman and, while my doing so would not have depended on finding a job there, I did look into the possibilities. What I found, in a nutshell, is that IT jobs are very, very few but they do exist, with banks. The same is probably true for other offshore banking centres. I'd expect there to be a wider range of opportunities in Hawaii -- I have recently come across the odd advertisement for jobs there.

Hawaii - jobs limited, pay poor - oh and the locals may try to burn you out of your home.
On the plus side the state flag has a little union jack in the top left corner and the weather is nice.

Now I've heard a rumor that there is substantial IT talent in Costa Rica, yet it's hard to find job listings. Is there a job shortage there?

As far as I know there are a few gambling sites that are based in that neck of the woods, so that might be the source of the jobs.
There is a website out there that specialises in jobs in the gaming industry that might list them. I can't remember the url but a quick google search should sort you out.
