Acceptable ACS Certifications
 

Further to the discussion on the Australia Migration board about the new ACS certifications, the following is an interim statement as ACS needs to get back to me about one aspect. For those who came in late, until the middle of last year, ACS only accepted four certifications for Group B skills assessment, however they then decided to bring their skills assessment requirements into line with their membership requirements, which has accepted an additional 5 certifications since 2004.

This is the current statement on the ACS membership site:

(v) Certain vendor certification courses either individually or in combination and supported by substantial relevant experience may be sufficient to meet the ACS body of knowledge requirements for entry to the Associate level of membership. (Applicants with vendor qualifications MCSE, MCSD, CLP and CNE gained from 1997, and CDE, Master CNE, CNI, CCE, and OCM gained from 2004 with such experience will be considered eligible for at least Associate Membership).

Clarification received from ACS about this is as follows. The new certifications are only acceptable if acquired after 1 January 2004. This change wasn't announced anywhere but if people come forward with the relevant documentation it will be accepted for Group B.

That being said, when I called both sides of ACS this morning there was considerable confusion about what CCE stands for, anyway leaving that aside, the others are relatively clear:


CDE - Certified Directory Engineer

This is a Novell certification which was discontinued on 1 April 2004 so in fact you would have had to get it in the first three months of 2004 to qualify. Beats me why they would bother to approve this, given the timeframe.

Master CNE - Master Certified Novell Engineer,

CNI - Certified Novell Instructor

CCE - could be Certified Computer Examiner - http://www.certified-computer-examiner.com/ :-) or could be Citect Certified Engineer - http://www3.citect.com/partners/home/cce .

OCM - Oracle Certified Master

Update to the above, the present consensus at ACS is that CCE is "Citect Certified Engineer", hope that this can be confirmed next week.

No matter what the Major in University? I have Mcse NT since 1999,then MCSE 2000,no mcse 2003.

My major is Industrial automation, I just check the guide line, need 20% course related computer major.

Anyone can help me?

No it doesn't matter how old your MCSE is if post 1997.

I dont know where ACS are coming from with these oddball cert's. I took the RPL route as I have Cisco certs well equivalent to MCSE etc.
Maybe I didnt look everywhere but it got my goat that MCSE was an unlisted 'hidden' allowance...maybe this is documented somewhere nowadays ?!?

They really seem stuck in their own bubble and I can't see how it helps Aus much to get skills matched.

Still we're another step closer accepted house offer today, so enough pommy winging now :p
