I imagine there must have been plenty of such 'scandals', most of them kept quiet.
Have you read 'Heat and Dust'----Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, novel about similar scandal. (Not sure it deserved a Booker prize---I prefer some of her other books).

Not as shocking as the latest expose of Mountbottom or is it Mountbatton ! Apparently there wasn't anything he wouldn't mount ! Midshipmen and small boys the dirty bugger ! Women dressed in Jodhpurs and boots were a speciality.It seems the trait ran in the family as more details are exposed around Randy Andy and the paedophile Epstein in New York.

I knew about Mountbatten a long time ago. I suspect vthat this was common knowledge amongst those who served "under him" Pun intended. Mountbatten aka Battenberg what can one say ?
