If you keep your British passport you will remain British. You will lose some benefits eg. National health, pensions etc. Other full time expats probably will give more details.

Hope you enjoy New Delhi. I'm sorry I cannot help with your query as I'm based in Malaysia. Hopefully one of our posters in India will be able to help you

You won't need to do anything to keep your British citizenship. It's actually almost impossible to lose your citizenship unless you request it.
It's a good idea to keep your British passport up to date though but it's not mandatory.

Contact the National Insurance offices and explain to them that you are moving abroad to work "for some time". You can then arrange to make voluntary NI contributions so that you maintain your pension rights.
