India post independence has retained strong friendly links with the UK regardless of the jaundiced views of Morpeth, the number of India origin living there for a start! The investment, job creation etc.
It isnt a question of jaundiced views, just proper understand of words and terms and reality - I pointed out what arrangements the UK has with close allies, and that the UK even has closer military arrangements with singapore than with India.

No one denies the obvious except in your posts. yes india is a regular though minor investor in the UK; yes many people of indian origin are in Britain but so are many Pakistanis and so forth; yes there are economic relations between the UK and India- but very negative for the UK when one looks at the balance of payments and trade.

india is such a close ally why is it excluded from the five eyes agreements ? why is there no mutual defense agreement ? why is the typical close military activities the UK has with close allies not present? by all means if i am wrong what are you saying-there is some secret mutual defense agreement that only you are aware of ?

just repeating nonsense doesnt make it true.

You have your own definition of the word "ally"'.

India is not getting "closer" to Russia----the present government less "close" than previous governments with their ship purchases, tourism etc. However old ties are still there and a useful 'ally' against China aggression. (See above post.)

If India & the UK are such close allies perhaps India could let the British boffins have a close look at the Sukhoi SU 30s!

I think cost is an issue ---previously cancelled a deal as Western cheaper and then recently agreed to buy more again.

The figures do show India in terms of GDP per capita on a PPP basis grew a bit faster 2014-2018 though in some years very close the annual percentage growth. For example in 2018 India’s growth rate by this measure 6.98% in India and for China 6.6%, though as you point out in 2019 estimates India came in lower and projected to decline next year as well.

In per capita terms both have a long way to go to catch up with first world levels- in 2019 Chinas ranked 72nd in the world and India 145th on a PPP basis.Just to catch up with China looks like India would need 20 to 30 years of steady growth ahead of China.

Both countries has been neck-to-neck in gdp per capita terms. As per both method, India was richer than China in 1990. Now in 2019, China is almost 4.61 times richer than India in nominal method and 2.30 times richer in ppp method. Per capita rank of China and India is 72th and 145th, resp, in nominal. Per capita rank of China and India is 75th and 126th, resp, in ppp.

Comparing China and India by Economy - StatisticsTimes.com

On the other hand it is possible Modi's reform agenda it it continues as it has could return India to higher growth rates, but nothing indicates it seems since 2019 figures India is growing faster than China, though perhaps Bipat has some links to Indian economists whose data would be contrary to every top economic institution in the world.I certainly wouldn't underestimate the business ability of India's commercial class if Modi can further open up and loosen up the economy in coming years.

Procurement agreements are not military alliances.

What is your particular point? India has been ordering/cancelling orders of planes from both West and Russia over the years.

The aircraft carriers etc. from Russia and there have been great problems with them, now building one of their own at Cochin.
The Seabird project will be the largest naval base east of Suez. Unfortunately within 10-20 miles of our town and I think will eventually take over there.

Military alliances vary over the years and according to what is happening at the time. UNPROFOR, Afghan war etc.

The point was, not about costs (God knows why you thought it was) but about India sharing the details / specifications / performance data, etc of the (licensed built) SU 30s in service with the IAF, with its close ally, the UK.
