Yippee!!
Hello!
I've been lurking on this newsgroup for a while, soaking up the information
and encouragement from other people going through the same process and
stress as we have been. So please excuse me if I shriek loudly to you all
that WE GOT OUR VISA - the envelope came through this morning confirming our
acceptance in principle to emigrate to New Zealand. We will be staying in
the UK until after our new baby is born late this year and once her
paperwork has been stamped we shall head off to the Land of the Sheep. And
in case anyone else is in the same position and would like to feel a little
encouraged about a speedy answer; we submitted our application forms on the
20th May 2003, had to send in one additional (countersigned/witnessed)
statement and our approval letter is dated the 29th July. We applied for the
General Skills category, no job offer but 30 points. And we are very glad
that we handed it in when we did as we were exempt from the new rule
changes. We did the application forms all by ourselves and are now off to
congratulate ourselves with a few glasses of something fizzy! Lemonade for
me though.
