Working Time, University of Applied Sciences
Hi,
I have two questions concerning the subclass 136 visa category.
I completed the University of Applied Sciences (German
"Fachhochschule") of Electronic Engineering Jan 2004 in Kapfenberg,
Austria. So I believe my occupation is Engineer - Electronics Engineer
(ASCO Code 2125-13). The relevant competency assessing authority for
this occupation is IEAust. According to the lists I found, Austria has
no agreements with Australia which enable me to apply through the
Washington Accord, so I think I have to create a Competency
Demonstration Report (CDR).
Question 1:
To gain the points necessary for the 136 category, I need 3 years of
working experience. I completed university in Jan 2004 and if I add my
internship and diploma thesis (which are part of the degree programme)
time, I have the 3 years. Is it allowed to claim these two time periods
as relevant working experience?
Question 2:
For which Occupational Category in my CDR should I apply for? According
to my education, I would have chosen Professional Engineer. On the
other side, when I look at the Units And Elements of Competency in the
Overseas Qualifications Assessment Kit, it seems to me that a
Professional Engineer has more responsibilities than I have in my
current job. So should I rather apply as a Engineering Technologist and
write my CDR for this Occupational Category?
Thanks!
Chris

1. Time towards your internship and diploma wont count i am afraid . You should be working as a full engineer for 3 out of last 4 years to claim points.
2. Porfessional Engineer seems to be the right choice since you hold a degree i suppose.
Try looking for other option to gain necessary pass marks for 136 OR try your luck with other categories.
