Don't think so unless you want the follow up years, and then you would need 3 months of specified work.

Yeah even that requirement has now changed, if you’re a British passport holder you no longer have to have done that regional service as of July 2024, to get subsequent 2nd and 3rd year WHV.

Yes, there is a requirement to work on a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) in Australia. WHV holders are typically expected to engage in short-term work to support their stay, as the visa is designed for travellers who want to supplement their travels with employment opportunities. However, the exact work requirements and conditions can vary based on the WHV subclass and government policies. It's essential to check the latest guidelines and requirements when applying for a WHV.

And exactly what is the official source of this misleading information?

There is currently NO requirement to do any work at all while on a WHV for the first 12 months.

First 12 months, so there’s a requirement for the second and third?

There is NO requirement to work on the WHV for the first 12 months, regardless of what that other poster put higher up the thread. However in order to get a second or third year there are various hoops to jump through, depending on age, passport held etc. Have a look at the link I've posted, should help you to work out what applies :) Too many variations to post them all here and a lot have changed fairly recently so you need to check the current info, and then check again before an application is done for the second (and third) year.
