Why not Canberra?
Most people seem to move to major cities and many choose to go to
either Sydney or Melbourne. I have not seen any post that says people
are going to Canberra. This makes me wonder because some prefer small
cities but they have not mentioned Canberra. Any views about this?
We found Canberra to be very comfortable place to live. Work is just
10 to 15 minutes away. Roads are wide and houses are cheaper than
Sydney or Melbourne. It is only 2.5 hours away from Sydney where one
can conveniently avail of big city entertainment. And by the way
Canberra region has the highest per capita income in Australia.

Where I am now, diving is for around 7 months a year, only at weekends, and a 2 hour journey to get to the coast. I want to move somewhere where 2 out of 3 of the above will not still be the case.
Also the type of job my husband will seek, these companies are based in Sydney.
So Canberra is not even being considered by us.

Re: Why not Canberra?
One of the disadvantages of Canberra is that many jobs are for the
federal government and hence require citizenship.
Which new migrants generally don't have.

Middle of nowhere (albeit a beautiful nowhere) and looks like toy town. Very surreal looking place.
