WHV Sufficient Funds

I am going to Australia later this year on a Working Holiday Visa. I have
already been granted the visa. Before I go to Australia I will be in S.E
Asia for 2 months. I plan on only taking enough cash and travellers cheques
for this 2 months and leaving the rest of my money in my UK bank account and
transferring it when I reach Australia.
What I am wondering is if a bank statement from before I leave the UK will
be enough evidence of me having sufficient funds to enter Australia, even
though it will be 2 months old, or will I need something more recent?
How likely is it that customs will check I have enough money anyway?

I don't know of anyone who's had this checked - they're more worried about you overstaying at the end of your WHV!

if your visa is already granted then you should have no worries at customs,
as when i applied for my WHV i had to send bank statements to aussie high
commision then.
customs just stamped my passport and gave me a smile!!
the only thing to worry about is the sniffer dogs at kingsford, in case you
have forgotten about anything interesting from asia.

I have WHVs for both Aus and NZ. With the Aussie one I had to supply proof of funds with the application - wasn't asked for proof of funds on arrival. Technically, I don't think they like the statement to be older than one month.
For New Zealand I went in person to the commission in London armed with bank statements etc, but they didn't want to see them at all, just stuck the sticker in my passport. They did however hand me a leaflet which stated that I may be asked for proof of funds on arrival. So, I'm anticipating being asked for proof of funds at the airport, just in case. Brother's just faxed out my latest bank statement.
Have fun on your WHV - you'll have a ball
