Re: WHV
People usually get them pretty quickly, it would be impossible to say weather or not you having a criminal conviction would hold it up or lead to refusal with out knowing what it was for / what (if any) sentence was received.
As a rule anything minor is usually OK, anything major (or minor) with a sentence of 12 months or more you may be out of luck.

Re: WHV
As long as you didn't get a sentence or suspended sentence of 12 months or over you should be fine. I've seen people with what I would consider to be more serious charges be granted PR not just a WHV.
I wouldn't have imagined that it would take three months to be granted but nobody knows what checking they do. I suspect that they just confirm the charge and the sentence with the police so its most probably how quickly the checks come back, like I said its just my suspicion the only people that know for sure are the DIAC and they don't tell anyone about their processes.
Good luck
