Re: who applying 457 thread
was the nearly eight weeks just for your application or for the whole process from the sponsor getting approval to the nomination and your visa?
Ours has just been lodged today but thats for all 3, the business approval, nomination, and hubbys visa. does anyone know how long this usually takes? I'm dying to give my four weeks notice to my employers for my career break in the hope of going in about 6 weeks!!! does anyone one think this is being too hopeful???

we had our nomination on may but had to wait for my nursing reg to come through. sent e application 3 weeks ago had meds done 1 week ago meds now "finalised" now waiting so if your fast at the meds and its done by "e" then that seems quite fast. We have found that if you email your case worker it is not answered but he was very friendly when i phoned him paranoid at 3am UK time!!! its a right roler coster eh?

Re: who applying 457 thread
Me and my partner are half way throught the skilled migration - which was pathway D and still waiting for the revised pathway from the TRA .
We got so sick of waiting in the UK and decided to risk it and come out to Oz, get jobs and try to settle in the hope that the new pathway would start soon and we would get residancy before our 12 month visa was up.
Luckily my boyfriends current employer in the welding company he's at said he would sponsor us to stay. We have told our agent about this and are waiting for him to contact his employer and take it from there this week.
We have no idea how the process works and if we should still continue with the permanent skilled migration visa when it starts back up to gain permanent residency ourselves? The sponsorship would just enable us to stay in Oz whilst the process continues.
I'm presuming our agent would handle all the paperwork for the sponsorship as this is now the pathway we are taking. Will it be easier for us whilst were already in Oz to complete paperwork, have medicals, police checks etc.
Any advice on this visa and what we should expect to happen would be much appreciated

Renewal of existing 457 applied for 15 Oct at Parramatta, Employer needs re-certifying as well though.
Same employer position and employee, onshore and fully front loaded.
The agent says 1 - 2 weeks. We'll see.
