Where in Australia?

Hi all
I'm new here, and I just need a bit of advice.

I'm going to be emigrating to Australia next year, but as yet, haven't decided where. I quite fancied Sydney, until a friend told me they have really annoying accents there. Then I looked at Melbourne, but someone told me it's a very 'gay' city.

So now I'm really confused. Can someone give me some tips as to where is best
Many thanks
Davie

It depends what you are looking for.

Personally, we're off to Adelaide
our reasons are
1 - I have an aunt there so we have one person nearby if we need them
2 - The weather is also a factor
3 - There seems to be more Jobs for my hubby's profession
4 - It's not as expensive as Sydney or Melbourne for houses
plus lots more reasons

I suggest doing lots of research both online and via books etc and make your own mind up. Don't listen to your mates as they won't be living there.

Hope this helps
Wendy

Forgot to say the sensible thing:

Try to go out on hols to look round. Although we've not done this.

The accents are very similar all over the country unless you grew up in
Australia, and can tell the differences between the different state's
accents. I can tell you that Sydney is a VERY expensive city to live in
(with Melbourne close behind) and I hope you have a very nice job lined
up for yourself if you're considering moving to any of those two cities.

Moving is a big step in your own country, let alone a country you've
never been to before. That's why when my husband comes to Australia,
we'll be traveling around a little so he can get an idea of where he'd
like to live (its a joint desision, of course!) before settling down. To
me, that only makes sence.

Weather, family, friends, country/city living, your job - it all is
important in where you live, don't base it on a mate's say-so, check it
out for yourself.
