Default What do the medicals entail

Hello to all who are past the medical request stage.

With our requests imminent, I was just wondering what to expect.

It me, my wife, a 14 yr old and a 7 and 3 yo.

Do we all have full medicals or just the adults?

Are there any issue which we should be aware of and prepare for in advance.

Any info Im sure will help. Not that Im worried at all, but it seems so long since the last part of the process was completed, Im now a bit rusty to the old immigration process!

hi
you will all have to have medicals but the 7 and 3 year old wont have to have xrays or blood tests and i dont think the 14 year old will have to have a blood test but they will have to have an xray. When we had our medicals the only blood test we had to have was for Aids and although i am a nurse and have a tattoo we didnt have to have Hep B test. ( i am covered anyway though work). The medicals were pretty straight forward they check all the usual things, height, weight, urine test, reflexes, listen to your chest, check your ears and an eye test. they also check your blood pressure, examine your stomach. if you have any specialist reports take them with you even if it is minor things, if you have put them down on your form. My husband had seen a specialist re a hiatus hernia and he included the report from them. I went to our GP and asked for copies of anything in our medical records.
hope this helps let me know if you require any other information.
Good luck
Dawn

Wear your best undies!!!

You may like to take along a drink or two to ensure no delays with the kids when they need to provide their urine samples. BTW, the 3 year old won't have to perform this trick! It's for kids of 5 years and older.

Your 14 yr old will need to have a blood test. My 13 yr old stepdaughter had to have one and she is not even included in the visa application.

My 3 year old daughter has had some urine problems, which is a worry for the medical, but you say under 5s dont need to have a urine test? That would be reassuring.

Reassuring and true! I have a three year old daughter too! Definitely no urine sample required.
