Hi all,

Just had few queries, what is centrelink..
and does centrelink check for work references...

If not, how and who checks work references... is it for all applications or random...

Centrelink is Oz eqivilent of our social security...and Im not sure but I dont think they do the work reference checks think DIMIA do and I would assume its random as not everyone seems to get them...I havent

Hi Shashi

If you look on the Immigration section of this forum, I started a thread under "Letter regarding Centrelink" may be able to help you. Basically Centrelink deal with the money side of the immigration (Like our Social Secruity office) Some people's assurers have had to have interviews, my assurer was just requested to pay the bond then provide the proof to Centrelink, they have now passed our paperwork back to DIMIA for the final letter to be sent out. All in all it took about 3weeks, I'm applying on a 139 visa, designated skilled-sponsor, so there maybe different time scales for different visa's.
Regarding the work ref, they are dealt with by DIMIA.
