Visitor Visa 600 waiting times

Hello, I wondered if anyone else is waiting for a Visitor Visa subclass 600 to be assessed. My friend applied 2 months ago from the UK and has not heard yet. It says on the Australian gov website waiting times are approx 17 - 24 days for 95% of applicants. My friend is sure he has sent all the documents required. He has visited Australia before to visit family & a touring holiday. The status on his immi account still says received. He has not had any other emails from the visa office. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Why did he apply for a 600 rather than a 601 or 651?

And that'll be why he's waiting.

Last time only took 2 days and the times before that took 7 days & 12 days. I just wondered if anyone else was waiting longer than usual.

Change of policy. If the conviction was for violence then it's likely to have been referred.

Hello, no it wasn't for violence or anything serious and it was over 30 years ago. Clean record since. Police certificates etc all given on day of application too.

Without knowing the details there’s not much point in speculating further. Your friend can call the Department of Home Affairs if he wants to chase it up.

Ok, thank you for your help. I'll suggest that to him.
