Visa Subclass 457 Cancellation process
Hi,
I am currently on Visa Subclass 457 (Indian passport) sponsored by my employer. Now I am planning to move to Singapore (New employer will be sponsoring my Singapore visa). Since my last working day with current employer will be in Australia, they can't get my visa cancelled before that. My doubt is, if I move to Singapore immediately after serving the notice period, how will I send my passport to my Company for Visa Cancellation ? Do they really need my passport for 457 Cancellation ? Thanks Abhishek |
Re: Visa Subclass 457 Cancellation process
You are considered to have ceased employment when either you or your employer notifies the department you will cease employment.
If you cease working for your sponsor, you must do one of the following within 28 days (the 28 day period starts from the date you cease employment): find another employer to sponsor you (they need to lodge a nomination) apply for another type of substantive visa make appropriate arrangements to depart Australia. |

You don't need to send your passport anywhere for the visa to be cancelled. Once you have left, you or your employer should inform DIAC and they will make the arrangements.
