visa subclass 176 - basic question

Hi,

I just received my ACS assessment for System Admin. I want to apply for State Migration Plan. Now my question is, if my occupation (System Admin) is listed under State's skill list but NOT listed under SOL, can i still use subclass 176 sponsored visa? If not, what is the point of having a separate list for each state? Grateful for some expert advise.

Cheers

Damien

Post 1st July, 2011 the SOL Schedule 1 lists occupations eligible for Skilled - Independent (subclass 175) visa, whereas, SOL Schedule 2 lists occupations eligible for Skilled - Sponsored (subclass 176) visa wherein the applicant should have already received a positive nomination from a state/territory.

So, to answer your question, yes you would be eligible for 176 visa provided your occupation is listed on one of the state/territory's State Migration Plan (SMP) lists (also known as State SOLs) and you get the nomination approved.

P.S: Welcome to the forum :)
