Default Visa in renewed British passport?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find it in search.

My husband & daughter have just renewed their British passports (we in Melbourne), they've been sent the new ones and their old ones back with the PR visas still in the expired ones with no instructions about what we do with them.

How/where do we go to change them over? We're hoping to get away on holiday soon, is it acceptable to take both passports or does the visa have to be in the new one?

Thanks!

Aussie visas are nothing to do with the UK passport office, so they won't care what you do about them.
You can take both passports if you wish, but if you take the passports to your nearest DIAC office then they will put new visas labels in for free
