I'm sure someone posted a link to find out the quotas but I don't know if they showed how many had been used. Looks like we could all have a very tense couple of months.
This link might also help or not as the case may be.

Anyway, I prefer to remain positive and believe that there is no hard quota system and that my visa WILL BE GRANTED prior to the end of June (which is the end of the planning year for DIMIA). Try to keep a positive outlook - all this gloom and doom doesn't really help anyone!

I read the above planning fact sheet and don't think it specifically states anything that would imply a stopage of visa grants based on a quota for skilled migration. Here's another fact sheet that seems more relevant and seems to only mention quota and queues for those "family" stream visas:

I doubt very much if they would publish this fact. The only people who would be in the know would be the agents with their insider information. It does help to remain positive but I'm now resigning myself to the fact that we won't hear anything until July 1st and anything else will be a bonus.
From what i am seeing the med requests are also slowing down - which seems daft to me?? I can understand slowing down (capping) the visa grants but to slow the entire process down...... ??????

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that family stream visas (excluding parent visas) are capped whereas skilled visas aren't. In fact, it's quite the opposite!

Re: Visa quota!
I think the skilled stream hasn't reached the cap/limit yet. Some people just got their visa grant letters yesterday:

did a small research from austimeline data for skilled independent between Nov 1 and today.
last grant activity on that site is May 17th.
no grant after that.

Re: Visa quota!
Just a quick thought:
Do they count visas issued to the total number in the application ?
ie a family of four count as 4 visas granted or only the main applicant is counted in the visa issues?
Steve

Re: Visa quota!
thanks. according to the data, only 19% of Class 136 applicants have received pre-grant and grant letters.
but there may be ppl who haven't updated their status online.
